Rio Bayano – participatory biomonitoring

Umschlagillustration der Rückseite Broschüre As part of an integrated coastal zone management scheme, innovative methods of biological monitoring have been developed in the area around the upper Bay of Panama on the Río Bayano. Nature conservation experts and scientists have worked with the local population to develop methods of monitoring this internationally important wetland area. The result has been not only the acquisition of valuable data but also increased awareness of environmental considerations among the local population. The book describes the process so far, provides a survey of the region and the methods developed and shows how this work has contributed to implementing the Biodiversity Convention.
