Go4BioDiv 2008 in Germany

The first International Youth Forum Go4BioDiv in Mai 2008 gave 50 young adults from 18 different nations the chance to participate in the 9th UN Conference on Biodiversity in Bonn Via this political platform, they met peers with similar concerns but different backgrounds, developed common ideas about biodiversity conservation and discussed their thoughts with the wider public in Bonn.

Gruppe junger Erwachsener unterschiedlicher Nationalität During a ten-day camp in the Wilderness Camp of the Bavarian Forest National Park (Germany), the young adults got to know each other, exchanged about their experiences in nature and environment conservation and dealt with the concept of the Ecological Footprint. For spreading their vision of a sustainable society which needs innovative thinking and fair models of resource distribution, they developed creative contributions and worked on a common declaration which they presented to politicians and the public at the conference in Bonn.
The small glass footprint, conveying fragility and transparency, became the symbol of the youth initiative Go4BioDiv. It represents the small steps of societal change that have to be taken for reaching a world with a balance of development and nature conservation interests, sustainable consumption patterns and fair access to resources.
