Committed to Biodiversity
Germany’s International Cooperation to Implementing the Convention on Biological Diversity for Sustainable Development
The continuously updated brochure attempts to document the efforts being undertaken by Germany in the field of biodiversity within the framework of international cooperation. It gives an overview of how Germany and its partners contribute to the effective implementation of the CBD and in particular the Strategic Plan (United Nations Decade on Biodiversity 2011 – 2020), its five strategic goals and the 20 “Aichi Targets” as well as the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing.
In addition to a detailed account about Germany’s international biodiversity finance, institutional arrangements and contribution towards implementing the Aichi biodiversity targets, the publication also provides a comprehensive list of all ongoing biodiversity projects and programmes implemented by the German Government through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUB).
